The Survey on the Future Housing Needs of Older People in Northern Ireland was launched at the All Party Group for Ageing and Older People meeting on Tuesday, 3 February 2026. Based on interviews with older people aged 50+ from across all council areas in Northern Ireland, this report highlights vital findings about housing needs for an ageing population. The survey was undertaken by the Age Friendly Network NI with Social Market Research (SMR) commissioned to undertake data analysis and reporting of the survey findings.
Stephanie Rock, Age Friendly Officer for Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, said: "This report highlights the need for age friendly housing that enables older people to live independently for longer in their own homes with access to a range of suitable housing options as their needs change."
