Sync living Competition Winner announced The competiton A 64 year-old Ballycastle woman says that winning a competition to have her bathroom renovated has ‘made a huge difference’ to her life. Jacinta McBrearty, who’s originally from Belfast but moved to the town 12 years ago, entered the competition in July 2018, in the hope that it would alleviate her increasing mobility problems and give her greater independence whilst bathing. Our competition, which we ran in partnership with local bathroom adaptation specialists, Sync Living, offered one lucky winner the chance to win a luxury accessible bathroom. The winners reaction Speaking about the moment she found out she had won, Jacinta said: “I just couldn’t believe it. Initially I thought it was a scam and my husband checked a few things online before I opened the email. When I realised it was real, I was absolutely delighted. It couldn’t have come at a better time, as I was waiting to go into hospital for hip replacement surgery.” Jacinta’s new accessible bathroom was installed in October 2018, following a consultation with Age NI’s bathroom partner, Sync Living. Product Specialists worked with Jacinta to build her dream bathroom designed around her mobility needs. She added: “I was delighted that Sync Living were able to install a wet room and remove the shower tray which I found difficult to step into. It means I just have to walk into the shower area and sit down in future for washing. The non-slip floor also gives me greater confidence and the bi-fold shower doors are also a huge help. “Thanks to Age NI and Sync Living I realise how adaptations are important to daily living when mobility is restricted by illness and age. They are wonderful organisations and I would recommend them to anyone who needs a bit of help and support in later life.” Age NI works closely with a select group of trusted partners to offer solutions and products that help people to stay independent and safe as they get older.
