Lady Mary Peters opens new Newtownards shop We are absolutely delighted to welcome Lady Mary Peters to officially open our fifth charity shop in Newtownards. The gold-winning former Olympian cut the ribbon, and enjoy chatting with local customers, staff and volunteers. Lady Mary also signed copies of her new book ‘Passing the torch’, in which famous sportswomen share their inspiring stories of the highs and lows of competing. Our new shop offers local people a wide variety of pre-loved clothes, books and bric a brac, as well as the chance to browse and find out more our range of independent living products, to help older people stay independent in later life. Speaking at the opening, Lady Mary Peters said: “I am delighted to be here today to officially open Age NI’s new charity shop. As a long time supporter of Age NI it is great to see the charity developing and continuing to do their great work in supporting older people across Northern Ireland.” Brian Loughridge, Commercial Director, Age NI added: “We are thrilled to be opening our fifth charity shop in Northern Ireland. I urge the local people of Newtownards to support the store by browsing the bargains we have to offer and of course by donating stock. Each bag of donated stock is worth on average £11 to our shops, so it really does make a difference to older people across Northern Ireland.” Age NI’s shop is located at 36 High Street, Newtownards, BT23 7HZ. The shop is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-4:30pm. If you have unwanted goods at home, please donate them to Age NI to help make later life better for people in Northern Ireland.
