Chief Executive Linda Robinson said:

“Age NI recognises that the decision to continue industrial action by healthcare staff has not been taken lightly.

Older people rely heavily on health and social care services for the treatment and care of health conditions and to support them to live as independently as possible. Older people tell us they really value and appreciate the work carried out by health and social care staff.

It is essential that older people and their families have clear information about what is happening and are able to speak to someone about alternative arrangements and appointments.

It’s important that this situation is resolved as soon as possible, so that older people and others can receive the treatment and care they need.

Anyone with specific concerns for the wellbeing of an older person is encouraged to call Age NI’s Advice and Advocacy Service on 0808 808 7575.”
