Get involved Volunteer stories Natasha Thursby Natasha Thursby, 20, volunteers at an Age NI day centre in Belfast once a week. Natasha helps older people on and off the bus, assists during meal times, plays bingo and other fun games, and was even inspired by some older women in the group to take up knitting, a new activity that she really enjoys. Natasha tells us what volunteering means to her: 'I'm pursuing a career in Health & Social Care and my volunteer experience at Skainos is helping me to develop essential skills that will enable me to gain future employment in a home care setting – it’s very rewarding. I love the caring aspect of the role and find the care team and older residents very welcoming.' 'Volunteering with Age NI has been life changing. I’ve faced some personal challenges in the past and the charity supports me to be the best that I can be. I’ve made new friends and gained lots of self-confidence and independence. I’m treated as a real person, with real potential, who is making a real difference in the lives of older people.'
