AES is supporting Age NI to help people love later life.

The AES Corporation is a global power company that owns and operates a diverse and growing portfolio of electricity generation, distribution and storage businesses, which provide safe, sustainable and affordable energy to customers in 17 countries. AES UK & Ireland own the Ballylumford & Kilroot power plants at Larne & Carrickfergus.

Since 2012, with the support of AES, thousands of older people have been helped through outreach in the Larne and Carrickfergus areas. The Age NI Advice Service has received 182 direct calls from older people, their carers and families in these areas, and £153,000 in benefits has been identified to help people live a better later life. Age NI’s First Connect and My Life My Way services have also supported 150 individual older people to access the help and support they need to be equal and engaged citizens within their local communities. In addition, AES has helped to increase awareness of the information, advice and help available from Age NI with 438,000 opportunities to see Age NI articles in Larne and Carrickfergus newspapers, and over 8,000 people reached through facebook advertising of charity services in these areas.

Carla Tully President of AES, UK & Ireland said, 'AES is delighted to add support to the Age NI campaign in the Carrick, Larne and Newtownabbey areas. The work Age NI does locally is very important to us and can have real impact on our community.'
